Bukan tanpa alasan, test ride tersebut dilakukan pembalap asal Itali itu untuk lebih memahami kondisi fisiknya saat ini serta membantu dokternya dalam merencanakan program rehabilitasi yang tepat.
Test ride tersebut dilakukannya dengan menunggangi Yamaha YZF-R1 bermesin WSB, persembahan tim Yamaha World Superbike untuk tim Fiat Yamaha.
Test ride yang dilakukan sebanyak 26 putaran, Rossi berhasil mencatat waktu terbaiknya 1 menit 380,200 detik. 26 putaran ini dilakukan dua sesi, sesi pertama Rossi menyelesaikan sebanyak 11 putaran dan sesi kedua sebanyak 15 putaran.
Dalam sesi test ride untuk melihat perkembangan penyembuhan cedera sang Italiano ini, dikertahui bahwa Rossi masih merasakan sakit pada kaki dan bahunya. Dan setelah test ride ini, Rossi akan melanjutkan rehabilitasi. Pekan depannya, keputusan akan diambil untuk menentukan apakah dirinya dapat mengikuti balapan di Sachsenring, Jerman, dalam waktu 10 hari kedepan.
“Kami melakukan test ini untuk memahami apa yang harus kami lakukan dari sini dan untuk melihat bagaimana saya bisa naik motor,” papar Rossi.
