Seperti dilansir autoevolution.com, pihak NHTSA mengungkapkan bahwa masalah ini tidak memenuhi standar keselamatan No 108. “Itu tidak memenuhi standar Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standar No 108.”
Yamaha akan memberitahu kepada para pemilih YZF-R6 yang bermasalah ini mulai tanggal 11 Agustus 2010 untuk mendapatkan perbaikan secara gratis.

Yamaha YZF-R6 yang dirakit merupakan rakitan antara tahun 2005 hingga  2010.
