Seperti layaknya Scarpar, Shredder adalah kendaraan segala medan yang cara mengemudikannya sambil berdiri seperti halnya skateboard. Bentuk roda penggerak yang mirip tank, Shredder pun mendapat julukan sebagai tank kecil.
Shredder yang telah dikembangkan selama setahun belakangan ini merupakan satu dari dua proyek Ben Gulak, sang pimpinan perusahaan BPG Werks. Produk ini nantinya diharapkan dapat segera diproduksi masal dan dipasarkan.
Versi Shredder yang ada sekarang mempunyai bobot sekitar 72.6 kg dengan mesin berkekuatan 18 hp yang bisa menggerakkan Shredder hingga 48km/jam. Kendati saat pengetesan masih menggunakan kemudi yang memakai kabel, pada versi produksi massalnya akan menggunakan handlebar layaknya jet ski.
Dikabarkan, bahwa mini tank ini sedang dalam pengembangan untuk menggunakan mesin rotary dengan luaran tenaga hingga 48 hp, dengan kecepatan berlarinya hingga 97 km/jam.
“Kami ingin membuat kendaraan sport terbaru yang cukup kecil sehingga bisa diletakkan di bagasi mobil”, ungkap Ben Gulak.
“Kami menginginkan bentuk yang sangat kecil tetapi memiliki kemampuan yang sama layaknya ATV atau motocross. Dan juga merupakan suatu perpaduan antara kekuatan dan olahraga extreme,” tambahnya.
Gulak menjelaskan bahwa konfigurasi semacam ini memungkinkan pengendaranya berposisi layaknya seorang pemain snowboard.
Yang menarik, Gulak juga mengungkapkan bahwa Angkatan Bersenjata Amerika Serikat telah menunjukkan ketertarikan pada shredder. Menurut Gulak, kemungkinan penggunaannya sebagai pengangkut personel atau kendaraan medis.
Pasalnya Shredder dapat menarik trailer dan juga dapat mengevakuasi prajurit yang terluka dengan aman tanpa menimbulkan cedera tambahan.
Selain dikendalikan secara manual, Shredder juga dapat dikendalikan melalui remote control RF yang dapat dipakai untuk melakukan pengintaian. Dalam latihan pengaplikasiannya, menurut Gulak, memiliki banyak faktor yang menyenangkan.
