Menanti Aksi Ben Spies & Lorenzo

GilaMotor, JAKARTA.- “Semua mulai dari nol, para pembalap juga memiliki nilai nol dan Yamaha memberi kesempatan yang sama kepada para pembalapnya, Rossi dan Lorenzo.”

Kalimat itu diungkapkan Lin Jarvis selaku Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing saat jumpa wartawan hari ini (13/10) di Jakarta.

Kemenangan Rossi di MotoGP sepang dan peraihan gelar juara dunia pertama Lorenzo, merupakan hasil dari kerja keras para pembalap itu sendiri.

Munculnya nama Lorenzo dan mengukuhkan posisinya menjadi yang teratas saat MotoGP seri Sepang pekan lalu, bukanlah rencana tim Fiat Yamaha untuk menjadikannya juara.

Sejak awal, Lorenzo sangat konsisten dan sempurna tanpa ada kesalahan-kesalahan berarti. “Kemenangannya murni hasil kerja kerasnya dan dia yang merencanakan sendiri,” ungkap Jarvis.

Dikatakan Jarvis, selain kemampuan Lorenzo yang terus meningkat, serangkaian peristiwa yang terjadi selama perjalan musim balap 2010, juga menjadi penentu kemenangan Lorenzo. Tak hanya itu, naik turun nya performa mesin Ducati dan Honda juga menjadi faktor kemenangan sang The X-Fuera.

Menyambut datangnya musim balap 2011 mendatang, Yamaha sedang mempersiapkan segala sesuatunya untuk menghadapi musim yang diprediksi akan lebih menantang.

Pasalnya, selain melawan pembalap terbaik saat ini, Valentino Rossi, yang akan menunggang Ducati, tim pabrikan Honda juga dipastikan akan menjadi yang terberat dengan tiga pembalap hebatnya.

“Tahun depan tidak akan ada perubahan yang signifikan pada motor. Hanya saja akan ada perbaikan pada tenaga mesinnya. Hal ini sudah bisa terlihat saat MotoGP seri Sepang kemarin,” kata Jarvis.

Sementara itu, kehadiran rookie di tim satelit yang langsung melesat keposisi tujuh, Ben Spies, akan memberi kekuatan baru bagi tim Fiat Yamaha.

Sejak hijrah dari World Superbike ke tim satelit Yamaha, Spies terus menunjukkan performanya hingga Yamaha terpikat untuk meminangnya bergabung bersama tim pabrikan.

“Saat ini Ben Spies ada di posisi tujuh klasemen sementara. Ekspektasi saya, dia akan berada di 5 besar pada akhir musim balap tahun ini,” papar Jarvis

“Saya rasa dia memiliki kekuatan yang baik dan dia sudah bisa memberikan feed back kepada tim akan motor yang digunakan. Tapi saya tidak menargetkan di menjadi juara tahun depan. Saya perkirakan tiga tahun kedepan dia akan menjadi pembalap yang hebat,” pungkas Jarvis.

Lantas bagaimana aksi Ben Spies yang disandingkan bersama Lorenzo diatas M1? Kita tunggu saja aksi keduanya musim balap mendatang.
