Karena itu, Apollo tak pernah masuk ke ranah produksi untuk dijual secara masal. Namun setelah 46 tahun berlalu, sang successor Apollo hadir dengan nama Diavel.
Ducati Setan. Wajar saja Ducati menamakan sosok motor bergaya minorfighter ini sebagai Ducati Diavel atau dalam artikata lain sebagai Ducati Setan. Saat pertama menatap sosok motor terbaru ini, bisa dipastikan Anda akan mengucapkan kalimat yang sama seperti yang diucapkan para insinyur Ducati saat pertamakali menatapnya.
Saat Diavel selesai tahap produksi, motor tersebut dibawa kehadapan sejumlah insinyur Ducati untuk pertama kalinya guna mengevaluasi dan pemberian nama yang pantas untuk motor ini.
Namun tanpa disengaja, salah seorang insinyur yang terkesima melihat desain akhir yang luar biasa meneriakkan kekagumannya pada sosok Ducati anyar ini dalam dialek lokal Bologna, ““Ignurant comm’ al diavel!”  atau dalam bahasa Indonesia “Setan.. Ini seperti Iblis!”.
Dari situlah nama Diavel disandangkan pada sosok motor terbaru Ducati ini dengan ejaan Dee-ah-Vel.
Ducati membekali motor ini dengan mesin berkapasitas 1198.4cc Testastretta11°, L-Twin silinder, 4 katup per silinder, Desmodromic berpendingin cairan.
Motor sesksi dengan sistem pengkabutan bahan bakar injeksi yang memanfaatkan teknologi Mitsubishi electronic fuel injection system dengan Mikuni elliptical throttle bodi dengan RbW ini diklaim Ducati telah memenuhi standar emisi Euro 3.
Mesin berkompresi 11.5 : 1 dengan transmisi 6 percepatan ini, diklaim Ducati mampu memuntahkan tenaga hingga 162 hp (119kW) pada 9500 rpm. Sementara torsinya mampu mencapai angka 94lb-ft (127.5Nm) pada 8000 rpm.
Di sektor pengereman, di roda depan Ducati membekali Diavel dengan dual semi-floating discs berukuran 320 mm dengan caliper monoblok dari Brembo dan 4-piston dengan ABS.
Sementara di roda belakang Ducati mencangkokkan cakram, 2-piston floating calliper dengan ABS.
Diavel hadir dalam dua varian, Diavel varian standar dan varian dengan bodi kit berlapis Karbon.
Kedua motor yang akan hadir di ajang EICMA International Motorcycle Show di Milan, Italia ini dibandrol dengan harga berbeda. Versi standarnya dibandrol dengan harga $16.995 atau sekitar Rp 151.5 juta dan model teratas dengan bodikit karbon dibandrol dengan harga $19.995 atau sekitar Rp178.2 juta.
