GILAMOTOR.com. – Menandai perayaan hari jadi ke100, produsen ban motor asal Amerika Utara, Avon, menghadirkan salah satu motor custom yang mengambil basis dari Yamaha YZF-R1. Motor custom tersebut telah dihadirkan dalam gelaran Dealer Expo 2011.
Dikatakan dalam laman autoevolution.com, bodi nya dibalut dengan beberapa logo Avon dan tapakan ban yang dibuat secara khusus oleh seniman air brush kenamaan, Carlos Avelar.
Beberapa produk sponsor yang terlibat dalam proyek ini termasuk Yamaha/Yamaha GYTR, BST Carbon Fiber Wheels, Brock’s Performance, Akrapovic, Saddlemen, Graves, Race Tech, ASV, BMP, Bazzaz, K&N, Driven Racing, Avon Grips, Goodridge, Gilles Tooling, Pit Bull, Hot Bodies dan Sharkskinz.
Motor tersebut dikerjakan ulang oleh Chris Costa di Yamaha Cucamonga.
“Ini telah menjadi proyek yang luar biasa bagi kami. Dan kami sangat senang dapat menyelesaikan motor yang menakjubkan ini untuk kami perkenalkan pada Dealer Expo tahun ini,†kata Sukoshi Fahey, Sales & Marketing Manager Ban Avon, Amerika Utara di laman tersebut.
“Kami sangat berterimakasih kepada semua kontributor kami untuk membuat projek ini jadi mungkin. Termasuk ungkapan terimakasih khusus kami kepada seniman airbrush, Carlos Avelar, untuk meng-airbrush motor ini dengan hati,†tambah Fahey.
Terinspirasi dari motor balap MotoGP Yamaha M1, generasi terbaru R1 yang hadir dari teknisi perusahaan Jepang “Tour the Forceâ€. Motor ini juga dibuat dengan desain crossplane crankshaft dengan fairing. Dikabarkan, Yamaha R1 2011 dirancang sebagai “Ultimate Cornering Master†di kelas super sport terbuka.
Motor ini dibekali dengan mesin berkapasitas 998 cc, DOHC, segaris 4 katup tiap silinder yang mampu menghasilkan tenaga sebesar 182 hp pada 12,500 rpm. Sementara torsinya mampu dihasilkan hingga 115.5 Nm (85 lb.ft.) pada 10,000 rpm.
Sementara itu, diklaim pabrikan, konsumsi BBM nya mencapai 40 mil per gallon atau 5.88 liter untuk 100 km.
