Lorenzo Sempat Berpikir Takkan Menyentuh Tanah Lagi

GILAMOTOR.com, Laguna Seca. – Jorge Lorenzo mengakui bahwa dirinya sempat berfikir ia akan absen dan tersingkir di GP Amerika ketika mengalami kecelakaan hebat saat latihan bebas di sirkuit Laguna Seca, Sabtu (23/7) atau Minggu dini hari.

Beruntung kecelakaan itu tak menimbulkan cidera sehingga dia bisa mengikuti babak kualifikasi dan meraih pole position. Menurut Lorenzo, insiden itu ditenggarai karena kontrol traksi yang tak bekerja karena sistem itu bekerja saat dia melakukan downshifting saja. Lebih jauh Lorenzo bercerita bahwa menurutnya kontrol traksi itu tak membantunya untuk melaju lebih cepat.

“Aku memindahkan ke gigi dua tapi untuk tikungan aku tidak melakukan downshift sehingga tampaknya membuat motor tak memiliki traksi,” cerita Lorenzo.

Setelah terbanting keras ke aspal dan terseret ke luar lintasan, Lorenzo sempat tak bangun sesaat. Saat dia berjuang untuk bangkit dan berjalan, dia berjalan dengan tertatih karena merasakan sakit di pinggulnya.

Setelah menjalani pemeriksaan medis, pebalap asal Spanyol ini diizinkan untuk melanjutkan mengendari M1 di lintasan. Dan dia melanjutkan domonasinya serta berhasil meraih pole position.

“Itu adalah kecelakaan yang sangat buruk pagi ini. Ketika aku menghantam ke tanah, aku merasakan penuh rasa sakit dan aku pikir balapan sudah berakhir bagi ku di minggu ini,” ujar Lorenzo.

“Ban belakang kehilangan kontrol, jadi aku punya banyak tenaga dengan sedikit grip. Aku pikir aku tak akan pernah menyentuh tanah lagi, aku terbang tinggi dan begitu banyak waktu di udara. Itu adalah kecelakaan yang buruk dan sangat buruk.”

“Untungnya setelah beberapa menit rasa sakit itu pergi sedikit demi sedikit. Tapi posisi terdepan merupakan hasil yang lebih baik dari yang aku perkirakan.”

Lorenzo mengaku kendati berjalan sedikit tertatih usai kualifikasi, tapi ketidaknyamanan itu tak mempengaruhinya dan memberi efek saat mengendarai M1.

“Di atas motor aku tidak merasa terlalu sakit, jadi aku bisa melaju cepat sejak awal dan membuat catatan waktu yang sangat baik dengan ban lunak. Kami sangat bangga dengan hasil ini,” tutup nya.
