Stoner : 8 Seri Masih Banyak Yang Bisa Terjadi

GILAMOTOR.com. – Setelah gagal meraih poin penuh pada tiga seri terakhir, Casey Stoner berhasil kembali menjadi yang terbaik di seri ke 10 MotoGP 2011 di Laguna Seca, pekan lalu.

Kemenangan itu terus menguatkan posisinya di puncak klasemen musim ini. Hingga paruh musim balap 2011, Stoner sudah mengantongi 5 kemenangan dari 10 seri yang sudah berlangsung. Sementara lawan terberatnya, Lorenzo, baru mengantongi 2 kemenangan dari 10 balapan yang sudah berjalan.

Peningkatan performa Stoner, membuat dirinya difavoritkan mengulang kembali prestasi terbaik menjadi juara dunia pada musim 2007 silam. Namun pebalap asal Australia ini menolak anggapan tersebut. Menurutnya, terlalu dini untuk bicara gelar juara dunia, perjuangan masih panjang, masih ada 8 seri menanti di depan.

Seperti dikatakan Valentino Rossi, perbedaan 20 poin dari Lorenzo tidaklah berarti apa-apa, mengingat Lorenzo memiliki kecepatan dan kekuatan. “Lorenzo juga sangat cepat dan kuat,” kata Rossi.

Menurut Rossi, Stoner lebih cepat tapi Lorenzo lebih kuat. Masih ada 8 seri dengan 8 karakter lintasan yang masing-masing membutuhkan karakter yang berbeda pula, apakah kecepatan atau kekuatan. Tinggal bagaimana kedua pebalap ini memanfaatkan kemampuannya untuk menaklukkan lintasan sirkuit yang akan datang.

“Bicara masalah poin kejuaraan saat ini sedikit sulit. Poin itu bisa melesat pergi begitu cepat. Selama kita berada di sana pada akhir musim ini – kami tidak akan memenangkan kejuaraan dunia sekarang,” kata Stoner.

“Aku pikir jika kami memiliki kesempatan untuk menang, balapan yang akan datang adalah akhir musim atau balapan terakhir. Selama aku masih cukup dekat untuk itu, dan kami dapat menjaga hasil baik ini, aku akan senang.”

“Tapi Jorge menjadi sangat kuat setiap balapan dan aku pikir Dani Pedrosa akan berada di atas sana, menghantam kami dan merebut poin itu menjauh dari kami. Ini pasti akan menjadi akhir yang sulit musim ini,” tutur Stoner.

Tahun ini, Yamaha menaruh harapan besar di pundak Lorenzo untuk kembali merebut dan mempertahankan gelar juara dunia. Saat ini Lorenzo baru memenangkan 2 seri dari 10 seri yang sudah berlangsung. Berbeda dari tahun lalu, pada periode yang sama dia sudah mengantongi 7 kemenangan.

“Untuk memenangkan gelar juara dunia, hal terpenting adalah finish di depan Casey. Hari ini kami mencoba dan tak bisa, tapi masih ada banyak balapan yang tersisa,” ungkap Lorenzo.

“Strategi ku hanyalah melesat secepat yang aku bisa. Bahkan jika hal itu akan sulit, kami akan mencobanya sampai akhir.”

“Di Brno, dalam kondisi fisik yang lebih baik, mungkin hal itu dapat berubah,” tegas Lorenzo.

Stoner dan Lorenzo memiliki hal buruk yang sama tahun ini, yakni sama-sama pernah DNF satu kali.

Sejak 2006, Honda belum pernah meraih gelar juara dunia dan musim 2011 akan menjadi kemenangan terakhir kelas 800 cc. Karena musim mendatang MotoGP akan menggunakan mesin 1000 cc.
