Stoner dan Lorenzo Boikot MotoGP Jepang

GILAMOTOR.com, Sachsenring. – Dua pebalap MotoGP yang bertengger di posisi puncak klasemen sementara musim 2011, Casey Stoner dan Jorge Lorenzo angkat suara dengan memimpin boikot MotoGP seri Twin Ring Motegi, Jepang, kendati jadwal penyelenggaraannya sudah dimundurkan jadi bulan Oktober mendatang dari jadwal semula 24 April 2011.

Kedua pebalap ini bersikukuh memboikot MotoGP Jepang karena alasan keamanan dan keselamatan dari ancaman radiasi nuklir Fukusima.

Kabar terbaru dari Jerman akhir minggu ini, 15 dari 17 pebalap yang berlomba di ajang MotoGP mengancam untuk memboikot perhelatan MotoGP di sirkuit Motegi, Jepang.

Casey Stoner dan Jorge Lorenzo mengumumkan bahwa mereka tidak akan berlomba di Jepang meski keduanya adalah pebalap dengan motor Jepang. Para pebalap merasa khawatir terhadap dampak radiasi dari pembangkit nuklir Fukushima, walaupun staf dari Motegi (terutama HRC) telah menyatakan bahwa sirkuit tersebut aman.

Saat ini kondisi Jepang sedang dalam pemeriksaan oleh tim independen dan hasilnya akan diumumkan pada tangal 31 Juli mendatang. Meski demikian, Stoner dan Lorenzo, bersama dengan pebalap lain telah menyuarakan keinginan mereka untuk tidak berlaga di Motegi walaupun telah ada jaminan dari Dorna tentang kesiapan fasilitas dan keselamatan untuk MotoGP.

Pebalap yang bersedia berlaga di sirkuit Motegi jelas tak diragukan lagi adalah Hiroshi Aoyama dan rookie Karel Abraham yang berkeinginan untuk membawa MotoGP kembali ke negaranya.

Tahun lalu, MotoGP harus mengubah jadwal perhelatah GP di Jepang karena letusan gunung Eyjafjallajökull di Islandia yang mempengaruhi penerbangan internasional ke seluruh negara.

Sikap para pebalap di paddock bermacam-macam mengenai topik ini. Dengan perlawanan untuk boikot yang menunjukkan bahwa para pebalap membuat argumen yang saling mempengaruhi, dan pada kenyataannya bereaksi lebih dalam menanggapi bagaimana Dorna mengatasi situasi krisis nuklir.

Dengan jarak waktu ke bulan Oktober yang masih cukup lama, belum dapat dipastikan apakah boikot dari para pembalap masih akan bertahan, terutama karena masih banyak tawaran kontrak yang akan dibicarakan dalam jangka waktu sekarang sampai pelaksanaan MotoGP Jepang yang telah dijadwal ulang.

Sementara Stoner dan Lorenzo mungkin tidak terpengaruh dengan tekanan kontrak ini karena mereka sudah mendapat kontrak untuk tahun 2012. Para pebalap lain ada di posisi yang kurang menguntungkan. Pertanyaannya sekarang adalah, berapa pebalap yang cukup berani menggertak untuk menghentikan MotoGP atau sekedar melawan peraturan Dorna?

Ada beberapa poin yang menyatakan bahwa pebalap akan dituduh melanggar kontrak apabila mereka memboikot lomba karena masalah keselamatan. Apabila cukup terbukti, hal ini bisa menjadi alasan yang layak untuk membatalkan kontrak mereka untuk GP di Jepang.

Tidak diragukan lagi, saat MotoGP sedang menuju Amerika Serikat untuk seri Laguna Seca, perlawanan terhadap masalah ini akan terus berlanjut.

Aksi para pebalap MotoGP ini menuai kritik dan pertanyaan mengenai solideritas mereka terhadap Jepang dan stiker yang bertuliskan “Help Japan” di motor mereka. Untuk masalah ini, Stoner menanggapi dengan alasan bahwa masalah keselamatan dan dampak jangka panjang jauh lebih penting.

Menurut Stoner, langkah yang dipilih tak kontradiktif dengan kampanye dukungan yang diberikan untuk Jepang. Karena dukungan bisa diberikan dengan berbagai cara, termasuk dari tempat yang jauh sekalipun bukan harus berada di lokasi yang dianggapnya membahayakan.

Stoner juga menjelaskan jika peristiwa ini terjadi di Australia, dia juga akan melakukan hal yang sama, meninggalkan Astralia dan tak akan pulang sampai kondisi benar-benar aman.

Senada dengan Stoner, Lorenzo yang mengaku cinta Jepang dan banyak penggemarnya di Jepang mengatakan bahwa jika itu terjadi di Spanyol, dia juga akan meninggalkan Spanyol dan sekalipun dia berada di Jepang hal itu tak akan mengubah dan berpengaruh terhadap Jepang.

“Banyak cara untuk memberikan dukungan kepada Jepang, berada di sana bukan satu-satunya bentuk dukungan,” tegas Lorenzo.
