Hayden Bingung Stoner Pensiun Di Puncak Karirnya

GILAMOTOR.com. – Nicky Hayden, pebalap yang nyaris saja mengalami cidera berat akibat kecelakaan saat balapan di Motorland Aragon akhir pekan lalu mengaku masih bingung dengan alasan Stoner pensiun dari balapan motor paling bergengsi di dunia ini.

Keputusan mengejutkan itu diungkap Stoner pada Mei 2012 lalu di sirkuit Catalunya. Padahal, boleh dikatakan saat ini Stoner sedang berada di puncak prestasinya di usianya yang masih muda. Selain itu, Stoner juga baru 7 tahun berada di MotoGP dengan 37 kemenangan.

Hayden pernah menjadi rekan satu tim Stoner di Ducati pada 2009 dan 2010 sebelum akhirnya Stoner memilih bergabung bersama Honda. Di tahun pertamanya bersama Honda, Stoner langsung meraih gelar juara dunia keduanya.

“Aku sedikit terkejut, tapi Casey melakukan caranya sendiri,” papar Hayden kepada Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix’s seperti dilansir Autosport.

“Aku cuma kaget saja, karena menjadi pemenang, berada di puncak, memiliki tim seperti itu di belakang mu, sepertinya hidup begitu indah.”

“Jadi aku tak mengerti mengapa dia ingin pensiun, tapi itu keputusannya dan aku hormati itu.”

Hingga saat ini pebalap berjuluk Kentucky Kid ini sudah lima tahun bergabung bersama Ducati. Pebalap berusia 31 tahun itu tak pernah meraih kemenangan sejak gelar juara dunianya bersama Honda pada 2006. Tapi dia yakin dia mampu kembali ke puncak sebelum dia pensiun.

“Aku di Ducati sudah beberapa tahun dan memliki beberapa hasil yang baik, tapi aku rasa tahun terbaik ku bersama Ducati masih ada di depan ku,” tegas Hayden.

“Kami belum memiliki tahun yang hebat tapi tak ada alasan mengapa tim dan motor ini tak bisa menang.”

“Kami memiliki sumber daya, kami memiliki sponsor, dan mereka pernah menjadi pemenang. Orang lupa – beberapa waktu lalu Ducati adalah pemenang, dan aku yakin itu sangat mungkin.”
