RX-Z Café Racer, Kembalikan Romantisme Balap Jadul

GILAMOTOR.com. – Awalnya, café racer bukanlah sebuah konsep desain modifikasi. Tapi muncul dari sebuah youth culture masyarakat Inggris selepas perang dunia I. Para motorist yang doyan ngebut sering kumpul di sebuah café kecil untuk bersosialisasi sambil menikmati makanan kecil dan secangkir teh panas. Para bro en sis sosialita yang doyan ngebut itu bahkan sering ngebut dari satu café ke café lain. Jadi istilah café racer itu awalnya adalah café yang sering dijadikan tempat kongkow oleh para racer.

Sekarang tren motor jaman baheula itu jadi satu rujukan desain yang sedap dipandang mata. Dengan stang jepit, tangki fiber, bodi belakang ala ekor lebah, bikin model ini jadi unik terlihat. Salah satu pegawai di Departemen Luar Negeri pun kepincut untuk punya motor dengan desain café racer yang mengambil basis dari Yamaha RX-Z.

Bro Erry Herdjuno punya RX-Z 135 jahitan 1995. Motor dengan konfigurasi mesin 1 silinder yang terkenal dengan suara cempreng dan asap mengepul dari moncong kenalpotnya ini dibuat oleh Yamaha Motor Corporation sebagai penerus Yamaha RD125 dan memulai debutnya pada tahun 1987. Tentunya bikers Tanah Air cukup akrab dengan motor ini karena pernah digandrungi anak-anak muda pada medio 1990-an.

“Saya suka lihat tampilan klasik cafe racer, apalagi setelah liat kustomisasi Yamaha RD350 racikan builder luar, kayaknya pas untuk bisa diterapkan di Yamaha RXZ saya ini”, ucap Erry. “Rasanya pilihan saya tepat mengirim motor kesayangan ini ke Studio Motor,” jelas Erry.

Siapa sih yang gak tahu hasil karya Studio Motor..? Kalau masih ada yang belum tahu, silahkan tanya mbah google. Hehehee. Semua karyanya sudah mendunia. Seperti biasa, sang builder dari Studio Motor melucuti seluruh bodi bawaan motor dan sudah menjadi tradisi Studio Motor selalu menggunakan plat galvanis 1,2 mm dibentuk sesuai dengan konsep yang diinginkan oleh klien nya Bro Erry, ala Classic Cafe Racer. Kelar meracik bagian body, giliran Komet Studio ambil peran. Komet punya tugas memberikan warna hitam yang bersanding dengan warna emas lansiran Spies.

Sektor kaki-kaki tak luput dari perhatian. Sok Byson yang punya diameter paling gede di kelasnya 41 mm dirasa cukup untuk menampilkan kesan kekar. Lengan ayun dibuat kustom mengandalkan pipa seamless 1,25 inch berpadu dengan sok belakang berlabel YSS. Pada bagian lingkar roda pemilihan pelek TK Japan 18X3 Inch untuk depan dan belakang cukup manis bersanding dengan ban Firestone Deluxe Champion 3.50-18 untuk depan dan Avon Safety Mileage 4.00-18 pada bagian belakang.

Pamungkas, beberapa peranti dipasangkan untuk menunjang tampilan keseluruhan dari kustomisasi ini. Footstep NUI Project, stang labelan Ride It dan beberapa peranti lain ikutan mejeng di RX-Z café racer ini. Untuk naikin performa, karbu ori-nya ditukar dengan Keihin PWK 28 Sudco dan aliran gas buang diperlancar mengandalkan knalpot kustom racikan Flash Muffler Custom.

Proses pengerjaan hampir 3 bulan. Dan tampang RX-Z ini menjadi jauh lebih segar sesuai keinginan Bro Erry yang mau mengembalikan romantisme balap jadul saat riding menggunakan motor kesayangannya ini. “Pas seperti yang saya bayangkan mas, detail apik ditambah permainan warna plus pemilihan part-part yang tepat bikin tampilan motor ini secara keseluruhan menjadi jauh lebih segar….”, ucap Bro Erry, bangga.
