Start dari posisi pole, Lorenzo terus membuat jarak di setiap lapnya. Pencapaiannya di garis finis meninggalkan lawan-lawannya lebih dari 5 detik di belakang. “Aku sangat senang, benar-benar bangga pada diri ku sendiri dan tim dan akhir pekan ini yang cukup sempurna,” katanya pasca merebut kemenangan pertama di musim 2013.

“Untuk memulai musim dengan cara ini adalah fantastis. Aku ingin melesat sejak awal tapi aku tahu itu akan sulit karena pembalap lain sangat kuat, jadi aku harus mendorong lebih dari 100 persen untuk membuat jarak di tiap lapnya.”

Diakui Lorenzo, setelah dia berhasil membuat jarak beberapa detik di depan Dani, dia mulai merasa tenang, kepercayaan dirinya mulai kembali dan bisa lebih fokus. “Kita harus merayakan hasilnya, tapi kami tidak bisa terlalu senang. Karena kami tahu kami masih memiliki beberapa hal yang harus diperbaiki.

“Balapan berikutnya di Austin akan sangat sulit bagi kami seperti yang kami lihat di pra musim lalu, dan dalam keadaan berbeda, cuaca berbeda, apapun bisa tejadi. Kami akan punya banyak pekerjaan.”
