Valentino Rossi Belum Nyaman Dengan YZR-M1

GILAMOTOR.com – Dari tiga seri yang sudah dijabani, Velentino Rossi masih belum nyaman 100% dengan M1 2013. Memang di seri pembuka MotoGP 2013 di Losail, Qatar, April lalu, Valentino Rossi bisa memperbaiki posisinya dari tujuh dan finish kedua. Tapi pembalap Italia itu juga berjuang keras untuk bisa finish keenam di Circuit of the Americas (CoTA) dan finish keempat di sirkuit yang dikenal sebagai sirkuitnya Yamaha, Jerez.

Pandangan itu diungkapkan oleh sohib Valentino Rossi yang dulu jadi bos Yamaha Racing sejak Valentino Rossi masih membalap di Yamaha dulu, Davide Brivio. Bertahun-tahun bersama Valentino Rossi di Yamaha, Davide tahu betul karakter dua mahluk berbeda itu, M1 dan Rossi.

Mantan bos Yamaha yang digadang-gadangkan akan membantu mengembangkan tim Suzuki di 2014 nanti mengungkapkan pandangannya itu kepada media Inggris, MCN. “Aku pikir dia masih berjuang untuk menemukan setingan yang bagus pada motornya. Dia belum nyaman dengan motornya mungkin sejak di Qatar,” ucap Davide. Memang Rossi berhasil melesat dan finish ke posisi dua setelah start dari posisi kurang bagus, tapi itupun harus dijalani setelah beberapa lap. Di awal-awal balapan, Rossi masih berjuang untuk membuat dirinya nyaman di atas motornya. “Masalah utama adalah dia belum nyaman pada motornya saat balapan.”

Saat tes di Jerez memang tampil bagus, tapi cuma saat balapan Rossi mulai memahami level sesungguhnya. Contohnya, ya saat tes di Jerez itu. Di sesi tes itu Yamaha tampak sangat bagus dan Honda terlihat sedikit kesulitan, tapi saat balapan situasinya sangat berbeda. “Di balapan saat Anda benar-benar mengerti dan mempelajari semuanya dan itulah yang terjadi. Tiga balapan sudah dilalui dan terlihat dia tidak nyaman di seluruh balapan, jadi itu artinya masih ada yang harus dikerjakan pada motornya.”

Sejauh ini Rossi tampak kesulitan bertarung dengan dua jagoan Honda. Jangankan Honda, melawan rekan satu timnya Jorge Lorenzo yang notabene sama-sama menggunakan M1, dia masih belum bisa. Pun memang performa Yamaha kalah dari Honda, seharusnya dia bisa bertarung dengan Jorge Lorenzo atau setidaknya tidak tertinggal terlalu jauh dari Lorenzo. “Di Qatar ia berjuang dengan bagian depan di awal-awal balapan dan dia bermasalah lagi dengan bagian belakang. Jadi keseimbangan motor belum nyaman baginya. Menurut pendapat saya, saat ini Honda lebih baik dari Yamaha tapi Valentino Rossi harusnya bisa mendekati atau bertarung dengan Jorge Lorenzo. Itu harus jadi target utama. Kemudian aku pikir Yamaha harus bekerja sedikit lebih untuk memperkecil jarak dan mudah-mudahan Valentino bisa lebih merasa nyaman. ”

Bicara masalah riding style Rossi yang dianggap belum mampu mengimbangi M1 setelah dua tahun bersama Ducati, dianggap Devide bukan masalah yang membuat Valentino Rossi kurang nyaman. “Masalah itu bisa jadi, tapi sangat kecil. DNA Yamaha sama dengan masanya sebelum dia pindah ke Ducati. Sekarang waktunya untuk melakukan pengembangan karena Anda sudah belajar banyak selama balapan, dan setelah tiga balapan pertama Yamaha harus berpikir tentang apa yang harus dikerjakan. Dengan dua pembalap hebat, itu akan lebih mudah untuk menemukan solusi dan itu akan menjadi hal yang menarik untuk melihat hasilnya.”

Jadi menurut pandangan Devide Brivio, buat Valentino Rossi nyaman dengan M1, dan lihat apa yang akan terjadi.
