Cal Crutchlow : Aku dan Marquez Sangat Beruntung

GILAMOTOR.com – Cal Crutchlow jadi makin liar dan ingin membuktikan kalau dirinya yang terbaik dan layak mendapat paket motor yang lebih baik di musim 2014. Cal sedikit kesal dengan Yamaha setelah Yamaha gencar mendekati Pol Espargaro untuk datang ke tim Tech3.

Cal berhasil meraih podium ketiganya di musim 2013 dengan menempati podium ketiga di Sirkuit Assen, Belanda. “Itu balapan yang luar biasa hingga akhir. Sekali lagi aku menunjukkan kecepatanku dan nyaris finish kedua dan itu jadi hasil terbaik ku di MotoGP,” ucap Cal.

Cal jadi pembalap Inggris pertama setelah Jeremy McWilliams yang meraih pole position sejak tahun 2002 di kelas premier. “Aku sangat senang kembali ke podium setelah hasil mengecewakan di Barcelona,” ucap Crutchlow. “Tapi yang pasti, setelah start dari posisi pole aku sangat ingin menang.”

Cal gagal memanfaatkan posisi pole untuk bertarung di depan karena terkendala bobot tangki yang terisi penuh. Dia mengaku tak bisa maksimal di lima lap pertama. “Aku pikir aku punya kesempatan untuk bertarung dengan Valentino Rossi.”

Gara-gara tangki bensin yang terisi penuh, Cal tak bisa maksimal saat melewati tikungan. “Karena itu Jorge melewati ku dan dia balapan sangat luarbiasa mengingat kondisi fisiknya yang masih cedera.”

“Butuh waktu untuk mengambil kembali posisi ku dari Jorge. Kemudian aku bisa mengejar Dani dan Marc. Sayangnya itu sudah terlambat,” cerita Cal tentang pertarungannya merebut posisi kedua dengan Marc.

Melihat kondisi keduanya saat bertarung di lap terakhir, Cal mengaku mereka berdua sangat beruntung karena bisa finish di podium. Pasalnya, sebelumnya Cal nyaris menabrak Marc saat berusaha melewatinya.

“Itu sangat dekat dengan Marquez di lap terakhir dan aku pikir aku menyenggolnya, jadi kami sangat beruntung karena dia bisa kembali dan kami berdua bisa berada di podium.”

“Kembali ke podium, itu sangat luarbiasa bagi Monster, Tech3 dan Yamaha. Ini adalah hasil positif lainnya di kejuaraan,” tambahnya.

“Sekarang kami menuju Jerman dengan pikiran yang positif dan berharap bisa naik podium lagi.”
