GILAMOTOR.com. – Pembalap Indonesia yang disponsori oleh pelumas Evalube, Rafid Topan Sucipto, berhasil mencatatkan prestasi terbaiknya di Moto2 . Di sesi kualifikasi Moto2 Motegi, Sabtu (26/10), Topan berhasil menempatkan dirinya di posisi 5.

Kondisi lintasan basah membawa keuntungan bagi pembalap asal Tanjung Priok, Jakarta ini. Dia akan memulai balapan Moto2 hari Minggu (27/10) besok dari baris kedua bersama Simone Corsi dan Esteve Rabat. Catatan waktu Topan lebih lambat sekitar 0.485 detik dari pemegang posisi pole Mika Kallio yang mencatatkan waktu terbaiknya dengan 2m 1.248s.

Sejak awal kualifikasi, Topan memperlihatkan ketajaman catatan waktunya. Bahkan Topan sempat menempati posisi kedua. Tapi saat lintasan perlahan mulai mongering, Topan mulaui tergusur oleh pembalap lain yang meningkatkan kecepatannya. Topan tergusur ke posisi 5 dan bertahan hingga sesi kualifikasi usai.

Ini adalah hasil kualifikasi terbaik Topan di Moto2. Bahkan di Motegi ini posisinya lebih baik dari rekan satu timnya yang merupakan pembalap senior di QMMF Anthony West. Pembalap asal Australia itu menempati posisi 18.

Sementara rekan satu negaranya Doni Tata Pradita, harus memulai balapan dari baris paling belakang di posisi 32.
