YRA : Latih Pembalap Setting Motor Supersport Sendiri

GILAMOTOR.com – Yamaha Riding Academy (YRA) tahun ini dihelat berbeda dengan tahun-tahun sebelumnya. Kali ini para pembalap didikan YRA dihadapkan dengan Supersport 600cc menggunakan Yamaha YZF-R6.

Tak hanya untuk membiasakan balapan dengan supersport, tapi 10 pembalap didikian YRA ini juga dihadapkan dengan serangkaian masalah setingan yang harus mereka atasi sendiri. Untuk saat ini, para pembalap Yamaha itu masih dihadapkan dengan setingan suspensi. “Sekarang YRA mendidik knowledge mereka di seputar bodi dan suspensi, belum mengarah ke mesin. Dan mereka diharapkan bisa menemukan setingan terbaik mereka sendiri,” papar Yoshiyaki Kato, Instructor YRA di Sirkuit Sentul, Bogor, Jawa Barat, Kamis (10/10).

“Di YRA ini kami mendidik untuk diri mereka sendiri. Di YRA pertama mereka dididik tentang body knowledge, dan sekarang mereka mempraktekkannya sendiri. Mereka mencoba motornya kemudian mereka catat sendiri apa yang masih kurang dari setingannya, kemudian dari catatan itu mereka kerjakan sendiri,” tambah Saeful Anwar, Safety Riding Instructor YRA di lokasi yang sama.

Tak seperti sebelumnya, dimana mereka lebih memercayakan setingan motornya pada mekanik. Hanya dengan mengatakan apa yang kurang dan harus diubah kepada mekanik, mekanik langsung mengerjakan apa yang pembalap inginkan. “Kami ingin menghilangkan kebiasaan itu. Karena kalau mereka tulis atau tahu dimana masalah setingan yang kurang dan mereka kerjakan sendiri, pasti hasilnya akan lebih baik karena dia tahu seberapa besar ubahan yang harus dilakukan pada setingannya,” tegas Saeful.

Selain itu, dengan membiasakan hal seperti itu kelak saat mereka sudah jadi pembalap professional, kerja mereka dalam menemukan setingan akan lebih cepat. “Kalau bisa lebih cepat tentu akan menghemat banyak hal seperti waktu, ban, bahan bakar, tenaga dan otak,” cetus Saeful.

Hal ini jelas punya manfaat besar bagi para pembalap dan itu dirasakan langsung oleh para pembalap Yamaha yang ikut dalam YRA ini. Florianus Roy, pembalap Yamaha Yonk Jaya, mengaku kalau pola pendidikan ini punya manfaat besar karena rider akan lebih mengenal karakter motornya sendiri. “Kalau seperti ini, rider akan lebih cepat mengenal karakter motornya sendiri dan akan lebih cepat menemukan setingan dan pengerjaannya,” ucap Roy.

“Selain itu, kalau sudah terbisa seperti ini, ke depannya akan mempercepat proses kerjasama dengan mekanik karena rider nya sudah paham apa yang harus diubah dan seberapa besar ubahannya,” tegas Roy.
