GILAMOTOR.com – Seperti kembali ke masa lalu saat memasuki Yamaha Champions Museum di area out side vanue Yamaha Asean Cup Race (YARC). Jajaran motor jawara MotoGP sejak era 60-an hingga abad 21, berjejer rapi berserta foto-foto sang pembalapnya.

Yamaha Indonesia sengaja membuat museum ini untuk mempelihatkan kejaan di dunia balap kepada masyarakat Indonesia. Dan memberikan kesempatan kepada masyarakat untuk melihat lebih dekat motor-motor juara MotoGP yang kini telah jadi legenda balap dunia.

Deretannya Yamaha RD054 juara dunia 1968 yang ditunggangi Phil Read, Yamaha 0W23 juara dunia 1974 oleh Giacomo Agostini, Yamaha 0W5K (Kenny Roberts 1978,1979,1980), Yamaha 0W81 (Eddi Lawson 1984,1986), Yamaha 0WC1 (Wayne Rainey 1990,1991,1992), M1 Fiat (Jorge Lorenzo 2010, 2012). ”Museum MotoGP ini membekaskan sejarah manis bagi Yamaha. Bisa melihat langsung motor-motor juara dunia merupakan kesempatan langka yang diberikan Yamaha. Ini pun jadi semangat buat pembalap-pembalap Yamaha Asean Cup Race agar selalu termotivasi ke tingkat dunia dan jadi juara,” ujar M.Abidin, General Manager Service and Motorsport Yamaha Indonesia.

Yamaha RD054 memberikan gelar juara dunia perdana bagi Yamaha di tahun 1968 dengan rider Phil Read. Lelaki asal Inggris itu dijuluki “Prince of Speed”, layak dengan prestasinya sebagai pembalap pertama yg menang di kelas 125 cc, 250 cc, 500 cc. Sebagai rider privateer Yamaha di 1971, dia jadi juara dunia kelas 250 cc.

Giacomo Agostini pembalap legendaris Italia yang memenangkan 122 Grand Prix dan 15 gelar juara dunia. Karenanya dia dijuluki the greatest motorcycle rider all the time. Gelarnya buat Yamaha di kelas 350 cc tahun 1974 dan 500 cc tahun 1975.

Lalu dengan Yamaha 0W5K, Kenny Roberts juara kelas 500 cc tahun 1978, 1979, 1980. Gelarnya di 1978 menjadikannya sebagai pembalap Amerika Serikat pertama yang juara dunia balap motor. Di tahun 2000 dia dianugerahi predikat Grand Prix Legend oleh FIM.

Eddie Lawson pun disematkan predikat Grand Prix Legend oleh FIM di tahun 2005. “Steady Eddie”, julukannya, pernah jadi team partner Kenny Roberts tahun 1983. Lawson juara dunia bersama Yamaha di kelas 500 cc tahun 1984, 1986, 1988, 1989.

Di akhir tahun 1980 dan awal 1990-an, Wayne Rainey muncul sebagai sosok menakutkan di balap motor dunia. Rainey mempersembahkan gelar bagi Yamaha di kelas 500 cc tahun 1990, 1991, 1992.

Dan di era paling terkini, Jorge Lorenzo adalah pahlawan Yamaha. X-Fuera, julukannya, bergabung dengan Yamaha di tahun 2008 langsung di kelas MotoGP. Pembalap Spanyol itu jadi juara dunia MotoGP tahun 2010 dan 2012.
