Sepertinya kekecewaan bintang MotoGP asal Australia dan mantan juara dunia MotoGP, Casey Stoner pada tim Ducati Marlboro sudah tak tertahankan lagi. Kendati dirinya sempat menduduki tempat teratas bersama Ducati, namun dikabarkan bahwa Stoner telah menandatangani kontraknya dengan tim Ropsol Honda untuk musin depan.
Menanggapi masalah ini, bos tim Ducati Alessandro Cicognani mengatakan, “Kami ingin Stoner tetap di Ducati tapi kami tak mau memaksakannya. Kami telah berbicara pada ayah Casey, pasti banyak tawaran dari pabrikan lain untuk memboyong Stoner ke tim mereka. Jika kami bekerja lebih keras, hal itu mungkin akan membuat segalanya lebih baik bagi Stoner,” jelas Alessandro kepada MCN.
Namun, motobiker mengabarkan bahwa rencana hengkangnya Stoner dari Ducati, membuat tim Ducati Marlboro makin mengukuhkan keinginanya untuk meminang juara dunia dari tim Fiat Yamaha, Valentino Rossi. Tim Ducati Marlboro telah membuat tawaran menarik bagi Rossi agar sang juara kembali menunggangi motor asal Italia, Ducati.
Dikabarkan pula bahwa Rossi memiliki waktu untuk memutuskan hengkang atau tidaknya dari Fiat Yamaha ke Ducati Marlboro hingga Juni mendatang.
