GilaMotor, JAKARTA. – Sadar atau tidak, kecelakaan kendaraan bermotor khususnya pengendara roda dua, bisa dikatakan sebagai mesin pembunuh yang mengerikan. Bahkan WHO sendiri mengatakan bahwa korban meninggal akibat kecelakaan lebih besar jumlahnya ketimbang korban meninggal akibat perang.
Di Indonesia sendiri, setidaknya bisa mencapai 50 nyawa hilang setiap harinya akhibat kecelakaan dan mayoritas adalah pengendara motor.
Mengacu pada kasus ini, PT Wahana Makmur Sejati (WMS) selaku dealer utama motor Honda Jakarta & Tangerang, tak henti-hentinya menggalakan kampanye safety riding. Selain sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kesadaran pentingnya keselamatan berkendara juga sebagai upaya untuk meminimalkan angka kecelakaan khususnya sepeda motor.
Dibawah naungan Asosiasi Honda Jakarta (AHJ), aktivitas kampanye keselamatan berkendara diadakan bagi perusahaan swasta, group customer dan klub motor.
Dalam keterangan resminya, Head Safety Riding WMS, Tony Purnama menegaskan bahwa peningkatan jumlah pengguna motor menjadi sebuah kegembiraan, namun disisi lain bisa pula meningkatkan jumlah kecelakaan di jalan karena minimnya pemahaman cara berkendara yang aman.
“Meningkatnya jumlah pengguna sepeda motor dari tahun ke tahun di satu sisi menggembirakan kalangan pelaku otomotif. Namun, di sisi lain, hal itu juga bisa meningkatkan risiko kecelakaan di jalan. Banyak pengendara motor yang tidak memahami cara berkendara yang aman dan nyaman. Kami berharap, para peserta dapat menyebarluaskan materi yang diberikan ke lebih banyak orang,” ujar Tony.
Kegiatan bertajuk Pelatihan Keselamatan Berkendara yang digelar di Lapangan Parkir Stasiun Tanjung Barat, Jakarta Selatan, pekan lalu, diikuti oleh 100 peserta. Seluruh peserta mendapatkan pembekalan pengetahuan berkendara yang baik melalui berbagai materi yang diberikan. Mulai dari teori, praktik peraturan lalu lintas hingga pengetahuan tentang perilaku berkendara yang aman dan nyaman.
Bahkan, untuk melengkapi pelatihan Honda menyediakan alat simulasi Honda Riding Triner (HRT) dan praktik safety riding.
Walaupun berdampak kecil, tim safety riding WMS berharap dapat berpartisipasi dalam menurunkan tingkat kecelakaan roda dua. “Kami juga berharap, kegiatan seperti ini dapat memperbaiki perilaku pengguna kendaraan motor beroda dua di jalan raya sehingga dapat mengurangi jumlah kecelakaan,†pungkas Tony.
