MotoGP Jepang Mundur Hingga 2 Oktober

GILAMOTOR.com. – Tahun lalu, gelaran MotoGP seri Motegi, Jepang, tertunda akibat letusan gunung Eyjafjallajokull di Iceland. Peristiwa alam itu, membuat sejumlah penerbangan di negara-negara Eropa terganggu dan berdampak mundurnya MotoGP seri Motegi.

Gelaran yang sedianya dilaksanakan pada 25 April 2010, akhirnya bergeser menjadi 3 Oktober 2010.

Kini peristiwa alam kembali mengganggu jadwal balapan yang sudah ditentukan. Gempa bumi berkekuatan 8.9 pada skala richter dan disusul datangnya gelombang tsunami dahsyat pada Jum’at (11/3) pekan lalu, memporak-porandakan beberapa kota di Jepang. Tak pelak, akibat peristiwa memilukan itu membuat hampir semua aktivitas terhenti.

Kendati sirkuit Motegi tak begitu terkena dampak karena lokasinya yang cukup jauh dari pusat gempa dan terjangan gelombang tsunami, namun Dorna Motorsport selaku penyelenggara tak mau memaksakan geralan MotoGP seri Motegi yang sedianya akan berlangsung pada 24 April mendatang.

Akibat pristiwa alam itu, FIM akhirnya merubah jadwal penyelenggaraan MotoGP Jepang. “Karena alasan bencana alam itu, Grand Prix Jepang di sirkuit Twin Ring Motegi yang semula dijadwalkan pada 24 April, ditunda hingga 2 Oktober 2011.”

Sementara Dorna Motorsport selaku peyelenggara mengunggkapkan duka mendalam atas bencana alam yang menghantam Jepang. Carmelo Ezpeleta selaku CEO Dorna Motorsport, menyampaikan empatinya kepada masyarakat Jepang. Menurut Carmelo, jika Jepang sepakat untuk menggelarnya maka hajatan MotoGP akan digelar. Jika Jepang ingin membatalkan maka akan dibatalkan. Dan jika Jepang ingin menunda maka Dorna akan menundanya.

Dorna yang mengaku sudah berbicara dengan pihak pengelola sirkuit Motegi mengatakan bahwa semua pengurus sirkuit dalam kondisi baik.
