Sebelum cerita gimana rasanya ngegeber all new Jupiter Z1, nyok kite liat dulu perubahan desain yang diusung all new Jupiter Z1.
Design
Sekilas pandang, desainnya mirip generasi terbaru Jupiter MX khususnya di bagian depan yang lebih menonjolkan lekukan dan sudut tajam, sehingga kesan sangar dan sporty kian tercuat dari motor bebek yang sudah 11 tahun wara-wiri di jalan raya Indonesia ini.
Aksen lampu utama sedikit berbeda dari generasi sebelumnya. Begitu juga dengan lampu senja yang menyatu dengan lampu sein pun dibuat lebih sipit dan menyudut ke atas sehingga terkesan sedang menatap tajam. Tapi perubahan lebih terlihat pada sayap dua lapis dengan warna berbeda yang membentuk celah untuk membantu aliran angin untuk pendinginan mesin.
Melongok kombinasi meternya, cukup simple dan mudah dibaca. Penunjuk posisi gir diposisikan secara horizontal di atas jarum penunjuk kecepatan. Sementara di sisi kanan ditempatkan jarum penunjuk isi bensin.
Di sektor pewarnaan bodi, Yamaha megadopsi desain striping yang elegan dan sporti. Yamaha menyebutnya  grafis ini sebagai desain dinamis dan simple modern untuk merefleksikan kecepatan Jupiter Z1.
Beralih ke buntutnya, tampilan lampu sedikit ada perubahan dari generasi Jupiter Z terdahulu. Meski bentuknya hampir sama, namun lampu belakang all new Jupiter Z1 kini tak lagi terdapat bulatan di tengah yang memisahkan tiga arah sudut lampu.
Nah, abis sedikit ngupas masalah desain sekarang saatnya cerita gimana rasanya ngegeber motor yang pernah dijuliki sebagai bebek paling bandel di kelasnya.
Riding Position
Yamaha gak pernah menghilangkan aura balap pada motor yang biasa jadi jagoan di ajang balap nasional Indoprix dan Asia di ARRC. Kombinasi posisi genggaman tangan di stang saat menumpak jok empuknya dengan posisi kaki di atas foot step pas banget, gak jauh beda dengan generasi terdahulunya. Makanya mau diajak jalan pelan atau buat ngacir kayak iklan tv jaman dulu yang dibintangi komedian Komeng dan kawan-kawan, posisinya pas, enak dan nyaman.
Handling
Nah, sekarang saatnya ngegeber motor yang didesain oleh perancang motor YZR-M1 MotoGP dan supersport R6 dan R1. Suara kenalpotnya terdengar “empuk†saat mesin menyala baik dalam posisi idle atau pun saat throttle dibuka penuh.
Handling Jupiter Z1 sangat stabil saat digeber kencang di trek lurus atau pun saat melahap setiap tikungan sirkuit Sentul yang banyak menyuguhkan karakter tikungan cepat. Tebukti, saat melewati tikungan pertama yang gak perlu banyak nurunin kecepatan atau bahkan tanpa mengurangi kecepatan, manuver Jupiter Z1 sangat asyik.
Bahkan di kecepatan rata-rata antara 70-90 km per jam, Jupiter Z1 sangat stabil diajak meliuk-liuk di setiap tikungan. Saking nyamannya miring-miring di tikungan, gak sadar kalau foot step nempel dan tergerus aspal lintasan sirkuit yang banyak tambalan itu.
Memang kecepatan puncak yang didapat di speedo meter cuma sampai angka 110 kpj, tapi yang asiknya, setiap pindah ke gir yang lebih tinggi saat keluar tikungan, tenaganya ngisi terus baik di putaran mesin tengah maupun atas.
Tapi kalau buat harian, jarum speedo meter nempel di angka 80-90 kpj kayaknya jadi peristiwa yang langka deh. Lagian mau ke mana ngebut-ngebut di jalan raya, bahaya bro.. hehehe..
“Memang kami mengembangkan mesin baru Jupiter Z1 ini berkonsentrasi pada performanya. Makanya di putaran bawah sampai atas tenaganya ngisi terus. Terlebih di putaran menengah sampai atasnya,†papar M. Abidin GM Technical PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM).
Perfomance
Yamaha gak bohong kalau tenaga Jupiter Z1 mengalami peningkatan sekitar 20 persen dari generasi sebelumnya, jadi akselerasinya makin responsive. Bahkan gak sedikit yang melakukan wheelie dengan Jupiter Z1.
“Mesinnya emang responsive banget, enak banget disentak-sentakin saat perpindahan gir. Bahkan masuk gigi dua aja ban depan masih bisa ngangkat,†ujar salah satu test rider.
Mesin berkapasitas 113,7 cc 4 langkah, 2 katup SOHC, berpendingin udara ini diklaim Yamaha punya luaran tenaga hingga 10,06 PS pada 7.750 rpm dan torsi maksimumnya mencapai 9,9 Nm pada 6.500 rpm.
Banyak faktor yang membuat Jupiter Z1 ini jadi lebih bertenaga dibanding Jupiter generasi sebelumnya, di antaranya dalah perubahan pada di bagian dalam mesinnya seperti roller rocker arm, klep dan durasi camshaft.
“Klep Jupiter Z1 lebih besar dari generasi sebelumnya. Klep intake nya 25,4 mm dan exhaust nya 20,4 mm. Selain itu durasi camshaft nya juga kita atur ulang untuk mendapatkan akselerasi dan tenaga yang lebih baik,†ungkap M. Abidin.
Selain itu, pengaplikasian YZ Crankshaft Technology yang dipakai pada motor kros Yamaha YZ450F juga membantu peningkatan akselesari dan torsinya. Dan yang gak ketinggalan adalah aplikasi teknologi MotoGP, forged piston, yang membuat piston makin kuat, ringan dan minim gesekan.
Braking
