GILAMOTOR.com – Kalau selama ini Honda RC213V punya akselerasi mantap khususnya saat keluar tikungan karena sudah pakai SSG (seamless shift gearbox), dalam waktu dekat Yamaha bakal menjajal SSG yang akan dipakai di YZR-M1 dua pembalapnya Valentino Rossi dan Jorge Lorenzo.
Lin Jarvis, Bos Yamaha Racing bilang kalau SSG itu akan segera dites di trek balap. Paling cepat awal bulan depan. “Kami akan mengetesnya segera dengan para pembalap kami. Saat ini kami masih mengujinya di pabrik Jepang,†beber Lin Jarvis.
Dengan SSG, so pasti bisa memangkas waktu perpindahan gigi. Seperti yang pernah diungkapkan salah satu media Italia, dari data telemetri perbandingan waktu pergantian gir antara Honda dan Yamaha sangat berbeda. Gap perpindahan gir di mesin RC213V sangat tipis, sementara di mesin YZR-M1 cukup besar.
Kebayangkan, tenaga yang sedang ‘On’ tiba-tiba terputus sejenak saat perpindahan gigi gara-gara gap dari satu gir ke gir lain cukup besar? Itu yang bikin motor lemot saat keluar tikungan. Dan saat perpindahan gigi, gejala wheelie sering terjadi. Nah, kalau sudah pakai SSG, semua itu bisa diminimalkan. Tak hanya memangkas waktu saat perpindahan gir aja sih, tapi juga mengurangi gangguan saat perpindahan gigi diperlukan waktu sedang cornering.
Bro en sis bisa bayangkan gimana jadinya kalau M1 Rossi dan Lorenzo sudah pakai SSG. Sekarang saja M1 bisa ngejaban dengan RC213V meski di beberapa titik dan sirkuit kualahan ngeladenin RC213V.
SSG akan dites dalam sesi private tes di Brno pada 6-7 Agustus besok saat liburan panjang. Yamaha nggak mau ambil resiko dalam pengetesan SSG-nya. Makanya dipilih saat liburan MotoGP. Jadi kalau terjadi sesuatu dengan para ridernya saat pengetesan, Yamaha masih ada waktu untuk recovery.
Jervis bilang, para insinyurnya sangat perhatian dengan urusan keselamatan pembalap. Jadi Yamaha nggak mau ada kesalahan sekecil apapun dengan SSG. Hal itu juga yang bikin Yamaha nggak mau memperkenalkan SSG nya sebelum yakin 100% kalau SSG nya bekerja sempurna dan tanpa kesalahan.
