Lin Jarvis : MotoGP 2014 Pertarungan Marquez vs Lorenzo Lagi

GILAMOTOR.com – Sambut musim 2014, Managing Diractor Yamaha Factory Racing, Lin Jarvis, mengakui kalau Yamaha harus melakukan peningkatan di semua area untuk bertarung melawan rival utamanya, Honda.

Musim 2013, Yamaha tertinggal 8 poin dari Honda untuk perebutan mahkota tim pabrikan dan pembalapnya Jorge Lorenzo tertinggal 4 poin dari Marc Marquez yang berhasil merebut gelar juara dunia musim ini.

Meski demikian, Jarvis melihat tahun 2013 adalah musim yang sukses meski disayangkan mereka tak bisa merebut kemenangan di akhir musim. “Kami hanya kalah empat poin saja,” ujar Jarvis kepada MotoGP.com.

“Itu tak mudah: kami memulai musim dengan posisi 1-2 di balapan pertama dan kemudian sedikit menurun menyusul cedera yang dialami Jorge Lorenzo di tengah musim di sirkuit Assen dan kemudian kembali cedera di Sachsenring.”

Masalah kinerja motor, Jarvis mengakui kalau performa Yamaha sangat sama dengan Honda. Yamaha dan Honda punya jumlah kemenangan yang sama sepanjang musim 2013. “Kami memenangkan jumlah yang sama seperti Honda,” aku Jarvis.

“2014 tentunya akan jadi pertarungan yang berat lagi – menurut pendapat ku akan jadi pertarungan antara Honda vs Yamaha dan Marquez vs Lorenzo lagi.”

Untuk kembali bertarung menghadapi Honda di 2014, Jarvis menegaskan kalau Yamaha harus meningkatkan kinerja di setiap sektor. Itu mutlak dilakukan karena sudah pasti Hodan pun melakukan hal yang sama. “Kami harus meningkatkan setiap area karena kami tahu kompetitor akan melakukan hal yang sama.”

Managgapi hasil akhir 2013, Jarvis mengaku cukup puas meski menurutnya meraih gelar juara dunia tentu jauh lebih baik. “Tentunya kami lebih suka menjadi yang pertama, tapi posisi kedua dan performa bagus seperti itu sangat bagus.”

“Kami tak bisa merebut gelar juara tahun ini, tapi kami akan kembali tahun depan,” pungkas Jarvis.
