GILAMOTOR.com – Dani Pedrosa tetap jadi rekan satu tim Marc Marquez sampai 2016. Honda Racing Corporation [HRC] secara resmi mengumumkan kesepakatan kontrak baru dengan Dani Pedrosa, kemarin.
Sepanjang karir di MotoGP bersama Honda sejak 2006, Pedrosa tak pernah merebut gelar juara dunia. Malah rekan satu timnya, Marc Marquez, yang merupakan pendatang baru di MotoGP langsung merebut gelar tertinggi di balapan kelas premier itu.
Bisa jadi apa yang pernah dikatakan Shuhei Nakamoto, HRC Executive Vice President benar adanya kalau tahun 2013 kemarin adalah kesempatan terakhirnya untuk meraih gelar juara dunia. Kalau dia gagal, maka akan sulit bagi Pedrosa untuk meraih gelar di tahun mendatang karena rival-rivalnya semakin kuat.
Sejauh ini, pebalap asal Spanyol itu menempati klasemen sementara MotoGP 2014 di posisi ketiga, satu tingkat di bawah Valentino Rossi yang ada di posisi kedua di bawah Marc Marquez.
HRC memperpanjang kerjasama dengan Pedrosa lantaran dia masih jadi salah satu pembalap terkuat dan jadi kombinasi sempurna dua pembalap kuat di kubu HRC, Pedrosa dan Marquez. Duet Pedrosa dan Marc telah membuktikan sebuah kesuksesan besar bagi Honda. Tentunya akan berbeda jika tahun depan Pedrosa menerima tawaran Suzuki.
Boleh jadi, jika HRC melepas Pedrosa ke Suzuki, tentunya Pedrosa akan jadi rival kuat lain bagi Honda selain duo Yamaha, Valentino Rossi dan Jorge Lorenzo.
