Akhirnya.. Honda Perpanjang Kontrak Simoncelli

GILAMOTOR.com. – Marco Simoncelli akhirnya bisa bernafas lega setelah kontraknya bersama Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) di perpanjang untuk musim 2012. Kendati dia membalap bersama tim satelit San Carlo Honda Gresini, namun dia tetap mendapat dukungan penuh dari HRC.

Sebelumnya, pebalap asal Italia ini dikabarkan tak akan mendapat dukungan penuh oleh tim pabrikan karena masalah financial. Bos Honda Racing, Shuhei Nakamoto mengatakan bahwa tahun depan tim Honda tidak mungkin bekerja dengan tiga pebalap (Stoner, Pedrosa dan Dovizioso). Kemungkinan besar pebalap asal Italia, Andrea Dovizioso dan bahkan Simoncelli yang membalap untuk tim satelit juga akan kehilangan dukungan dari HRC.

Kerja keras Simoncelli dan tim Gresini membuahkan hasil untuk membuktikan bahwa Simoncelli pantas mendapat dukungan penuh dari Honda. Perlahan dia mulai menunjukkan kemajuan di tiap balapan dan bahkan berhasil meraih podium pertama di Brno.

Lebih lanjut Simoncelli berkata, hal itu memberikan banyak motivasi untuk tampil lebih baik di musim 2012 mendatang. Tahun depan merupakan tahun pembuktiannya untuk tampil lebih baik dari tahun ini dan untuk memberikan kepuasan kepada semua pihak yang sudah mempercayainya.

Gresini mengaku gembira atas kesepakatan kontrak baru antrara Simoncelli dan Honda. Menurutnya, kualitas Marco Simoncelli sebagai pebalap dan seorang ekstrovert, membuat kolaborasinya dengan pebalap berambut kribo itu tetap berjalan.
