GILAMOTOR.com. – Jonathan Rea, pebalap Honda di kejuaraan Superbike meluncurkan CBR500R di helatan EICMA 2012 di Milan, Italia.
Kehadiran CBR500R diproyeksikan untuk mengisi level baru di kelas menengah. Honda berusaha memenuhi permintaan pasar yang ingin berpindah dari mesin kecil ke mesin yang lebih besar dengan harga yang lebih terjangkau.
Bersamaan dengan peluncurkan CBR500R versi jalan raya, Jonathan juga memperkenalkan CBR500R versi balap yang akan digunakan untuk kejuaran European Junior Cup pada 2013 mendatang.
Kejuaran ini merupakan sebuah kompetisi 8 seri yang diikuti oleh pebalap berusia antara 14 sampai 19 tahun.
Honda mengatakan bahwa mesin DOHC 500cc yang ditanamkan pada all new CBR500RR adalah salah satu yang terbaik. Menggunakan piston dengan ukuran bore yang sama dengan CBR600RR, mesin twin parallel nya mampu memberikan performa sejak di putaran bawah hingga atas.
