GILAMOTOR.com. – Tim balap asal India ini mulai menyebar ancaman sejak sesi tes petama Moto3 dimulai. Mereka memulai awal musim yang bagus. Dari hasil tes Moto3 2013 kemarin Mahindra Racing berhasil menempatkan kedua riders nya di posisi 10 besar. Padahal musim sebelumnya yang juga jadi musim perdananya di Moto3, mereka tampil terseok-seok dan cuma punya koleksi nilai 4 point di akhir musim 2012.
Belajar dari pengalaman, pastinya. Mahindra Racing melakukan perubahan besar untuk membayar kekecewaan musim lalu. Mahindra kini menggunakan sasis baru dan mesin baru hasil kerjasama dengan Suter Racing. Dan yang nggak kalah penting, pabrikan asal negeri Bollywood ini sekarang punya dua pembalap baru, Miguel Oliveira dan Efren Vazquez.
Pembalap Spanyol Vazquez berhasil nongkorong di posisi 8 dengan selisih 1.2 detik dari pembalap tercepat di test Moto3 pertama. Sementara Oliveira berhasil nongkrong di posisi 10. Tapi di tes kedua di Jerez, Oliveira berhasil memperbaikinya dengan menempati posisi 5. Meski baru sesi tes, setidaknya sudah ada perubahan yang dilakukan tim balap asal India ini.
“Saya sangat senang kami memiliki kesempatan untuk melanjutkan semua pekerjaan ini sejak di Valencia, kemarin,” kata Oliveira, bocah yang baru beranjak remaja ini. “Saya senang dengan kinerja yang dilakukan oleh tim dan saya belajar begitu banyak tentang motor dan tim saya. Kami berada di jalur yang tepat dan kami siap untuk bertarung.â€
Sekarang tim India ini sedang fokus buat mencari seting yang pas. Mereka berusaha nggak terpengaruh dengan pembalap lain. Yang terpenting dapat seting terbaik sebelum perang sesungguhnya dimulai. “Fokus tim sekarang mendapatkan seting yang tepat untuk motor tanpa terpengaruh oleh pembalap dan tim lain. Kami harus memberikan yang terbaik..!â€
Pada test di Sirkuit Jerez pekan ini, Vazquez berada di posisi delapan didapat di putaran ke tiga dari sepuluh putaran saat kondisi kering. “Saya senang dengan motor yang saya gunakan dan semua berjalan sesuai yang saya dan tim inginkan. Saya sangat senang berada di tim ini. Semua telah berubah sejak akhir musim lalu dengan harapan dan pemikiran yang lebih positif. Proyek yang kami kerjakan ini adalah yang terbaik dan kita berharap hasil yang lebih baik lagi,†harap Vazquez.
Motor baru Mahindra ini telah menyelesaikan jarak tempuh sejauh 750 km (Vazquez) dan 800 km (Oliveira) pada dua sesi test. “Kami harus bekerja keras dengan tim yang berbasis di Swiss sebelum kembali ke Jerez pada 18-21 Maret nanti,†tutup Vazquez.
