KTM Ogah Ikut MotoGP

GILAMOTOR.com. – Meski dianggap layak berada di MotoGP dengan produk RC8, tapi KTM enggan masuk ke ranah balapan paling bergengsi di dunia itu. Menurut KTM, MotoGP tak sejalan dengan cara promosi mereka. MotoGP terlalu rumit dan mahal.

Dikatakan CEO KTM Stefan Pierer, aplikasi teknologi MotoGP sudah terlalu tinggi jadi tak bisa kalau hanya ikut-ikutan saja, harus total. Pun jika KTM ikut di MotoGP, itu dianggap tak sebanding dengan usaha yang akan dikeluarkan.

Dalam satu musim, setidaknya satu tim haru mengeluarkan dana sebesar 25 juta Euro atau sekitar Rp 317 miliar. Tapi dengan dana itu, akan sulit untuk mencapai podium karena komponen yang digunakan masih di bawah rata-rata. Kalau ingin mencapai podium, dana yang harus dikeluarkan akan berlipat.

“Tidak bisa ikut MotoGP bila hanya untuk coba-coba. Ini tidak sebanding dengan usaha yang akan dikeluarkan,” jelas Stefan Pierer di laman autoevolution.

Menurut Pierer, tempat yang cocok untuk KTM adalah Superbike. “Bagi kami, balapan paling cocok, mempromosikan brand dan produk adalah Superbike. Karena regulasi berbeda di enam atau tujuh negara, kami harus menahan diri,” jelas Pierer.

Sejauh ini, KTM sudah cukup puas dengan mengikuti kejuaraan Moto3. Mungkin jika Moto2 tak ada regulasi satu mesin, KTM akan tertarik untuk ikut di balapan motor 600cc itu.
