Jorge Lorenzo, Raih Posisi Pole Di Hari Ulang Tahun

Perolehan pole pembalap Spanyol itu jadi istimewa karena bertepatan dengan hari ulang tahunnya yang ke-26. Dan itu melengkapi kebahagian pembalap Yamaha Factory Racing itu karena sebelumnya namanya diabadikan untuk mengganti nama tikungan terakhir sirkuit Jerez dari tikungan Ducados menjadi tikungan Jorge Lorenzo.

Perebutan posisi grid terdepat berlangsung ketat. Berawal dari Cal Crutchlow yang sempat mencatatkan waktu tercepat kedua yang kemudian digeser oleh Dani Pedrosa. Dani yang mencoba untuk mempertajam catatan waktunya tak berhasil dan tetap start di posisi kedua dengan selisih waktu 0.247 detik. Lalu di belakang Dani ada Marc Marquez yang berhasil menggeser posisi Cal Crutchlow.

Cal Crutchlow sempat terjatuh. Beruntung dia tak mengalami cedera serius meski motornya terlihat cukup berantakan. Cal pun harus puas memulai balapan besok dari posisi keempat. Tak hanya Cal, Marquez, Dani dan Rossi pun terjatuh saat sesi kualifikasi kedua. Bahkan motor Velentino Rossi terlihat jauh lebih berantakan. Karenanya, Velentino Rossi hanya bisa menempatkan dirinya sebagai pembalap tercepat ke lima.

Di belakang Rossi ada Alvaro Bautista dan Nicky Hayden.
