Rafid Topan Finish Ke-24, Anthony West Berjuang Dengan Grip

GILAMOTOR.com – Dalam kondisi yang sulit dan temperatur dingin serta sebagian trek basah, dua pembalap QMMF Anthony West dan Rafid Topan Sucipto berhasil menyelesaikan balapan Moto2 seri keempat di Sirkuit legendaris Le Mans, Perancis (19/5).

Meski balapan dalam kondisi yang kurang bagus, Anthony West bertarung dengan berani dan berhasil menyelesaikan balapan di posisi 9.

Pembalap Australia berusia 31 tahun itu berhasil menyelesaikan balapan berat itu setelah start dari posisi 12. “Lap pertama aku cukup cepat, jadi aku merasa baik dan kuat. Tapi kemudian kekuatan ku memudar dan terus memudar. Aku tak bisa tetap bersama pembalap di grup depan karena aku merasa motor ku mulai banyak kehilangan grip,” ucap West.

Tapi West tetap berusaha semaksimal mungkin meski balapan dalam kondisi yang sangat sulit. Dia tak mau seolah-olah dia mencari alasan dengan menyalahkan kondisi motornya meski dia merasa tak punya kecepatan bersama motornya. “

“Aku hanya menahan para pembalap lain di belakang ku sebisa mungkin. Bagian yang baik dari motor ku adalah aku punya kekuatan di pengereman yang membuat orang lain sulit untuk melewati ku.. Dan ketika mereka melewati ku, aku lawan kembali. Tapi aku mengambil resiko besar. Itu membuat frustrasi,” aku West.

West mengakui bahwa di titik tertentu dia punya arah yang salah. Dengan sasis baru dan beberapa modifikasi lainya, West berharap hal itu akan bekerja ke arah yang lebih baik. Karena jika hal itu tidak bekerja, maka West dan tim akan kembali bekerja dari nol untuk mencari permasalahannya. “Motor kami punya banyak poin yang baik, tapi dalam waktu yang bersamaan ada hal lain yang membuat lebih sulit untuk dikendarai.

Sementara rekan satu timnya, Rafid Topan Sucipto mengalami kemunduran setelah terlibat kecelakaan dengan pambalap lain di awal-awal balapan. Namun anak muda asal Jakarta ini berhasil melanjutkan balapan hingga akhirnya berhasil finish ke 24.

“Aku melakukan start dengan bagus dan berada di posisi yang kuat. Ketika pembalap lain mengalami kecelakaan di tikungan keempat, membuat ku terdorong ke luar lintasan dan akhirnya aku terjatuh juga,” ucap pembalap yang disponsori oleh pelumas Evalube.

“Motor tak ada masalah dan aku bisa melanjutkan balapan, tapi tentu saja ada harga yang harus dibayar karena aku jadi pembalap paling belakang dan harus menemukan ritme balapan ku lagi. Aku balapan sendirian tapi setidaknya aku berhasil finish.”
