Strategi Finish 1-2, Yamaha Gunakan SSGnya

GILAMOTOR.com – Akhirnya yang ditunggu-tunggu datang juga. Dua jagoan Yamaha Factory Racing Jorge Lorenzo dan Valentino Rossi akan menggunakan Seamless Shift Gearbox [SSG]. Jorge menegaskan hal itu di press conference jelang balapan MotoGP seri ke-13 di Misano. “Ssg akan ada di sini besok. Kami bisa tegaskan itu,” ucap Lorenzo dengan tampang kegirangan. Maklum Jorge dan Rossi sudah sejak lama minta M1 meraka dipasangkan ssg. Saking perlunya ssg dipasangkan di M1, hampir tiap pagi Rossi dan Lorenzo minta ssg ke orang-orang Jepang.

Selain bisa memangkas waktu pergantian gigi, yang terpenting adalah peningkatan stabilitas motor dan meminimalkan kesalahan saat menggeber sampai mentok. Sebelumnya Yamaha telah mengetes komponen itu di Brno, Yamaha belum mau menggunakan karena alasan keselamatan pembalapnya jauh lebih penting. Yamaha belum yakin pada ssg nya. Jadi mereka harus kembali bekerja menyempurnakan kinerja komponen yang sudah digunakan Honda. Tujuannya jelas untuk bertarung melawan Honda.

“Saat kami mencobanya di Brno, aku tersenyum, aku tak merasa penurunan tenaga saat pergantian gigi,” aku Lorenzo. “Ini seperti naik motor matik,” tambah Lorenzo. Perbedaan pengaplikasian ssg akan sangat terasa ketika melakukan up-shifting [naik gigi] saat melewati tanjakan. Normalnya motor akan ada pergerakan atau hentakan saat perpindahan gigi, tapi dengan ssg nggak lagi. “Kita lihat apa yang bisa kita lakukan di balapan nanti.”

“Kami senang banget. Pastinya ini sangat penting bro, khsusnya di sini di Misano dimana gearbox akan bekerja keras. Kami harap ini akan jadi keuntungan yang bagus untuk bertarung dengan Honda,” timpal Rossi. “Ini lebih meningkatkan kualitas balapan dan catatan waktu. Tapi aku rasa nggak gitu, sayangnya seamless akan bekerja pada paruh kedua lap. Tapi ini jadi bantuan yang besar selama balapan, dan memacu motor sampai batas tanpa kesalahan.”

Harapan Yamaha, pembalapnya bisa finish 1-2 di Misano. Setelah Misano, Yamaha akan lakukan tes lagi di sirkuit yang sama untuk modal balapan di lima seri tersisa setelah Misano. Finish 1-2 adalah strategi untuk memenangkan kejuaraan. Karena jika Lorenzo finish pertama dan Marc Marquez masih finish kedua, maka sia-sia usaha Lorenzo. Sekarang Lorenzo tertinggal 39 poin dari Marc Marquez dan 9 poin dari Dani.
